BAB 66 section Riederwald tunnel, operating building
BAB 66 is the largest inner-city construction project which is being built in several construction stages and phases. The construction site is located in Frankfurt am Main, in the eastern district of Riederwald. At present, we are constructing the shell for the operating buildings, extinguishing water basin and protective structures section. These are located approximately in the middle of the tunnel and must be constructed before the start of tunnel work.
One of the special features of this construction project is the LH (low heat) cements, also known as ‘low hydration heat’, which are used for massive components, thus ensuring delayed curing of the concrete. This also means that we have longer stripping times and curing time. In order to protect groundwater, only low-chromate cements or cements with chromate reducers are required for concrete production, as well as only water of drinking quality.
